While staying at the Howard Johnson in Newark, Delaware, which is very clean and has a wondeful breakfast buffet, my family and I had car problems.
The Front Desk clerk, looked at my car for me, then when he realized the problem, made arrangments for me to use a nearby auto shop that was good and not to expensive. The hotel then arranged for my children and I to have transportation to where we... [more] needed to go. When the day was finally over and my car was fixed, there were homemade cookies and a note from the sales manager asking if she could help with anything else. I travel often for busniess and pleasure and have never experienced service like this. I will always stay at this hotel and tell everyone I know to do the same. [less]

I had made reservations months in advance at this hotel, for a special weekend with family, and when we got there only half of the reservation was honored. I then had further problems convincing the desk person to provide an alternative room, which they did and then re-booked it while I was still in the room. I also found this hotel rather dingy even though they claim on their website they were ... [more]recently remodeled. I was further disappointed by the response by the hotel manager and the corporate owner, both expressed their apologies, but were not willing to offer a reasonable explanation, nor compensate me for my trouble for a more favorable view of them.
