SHERATON NORFOLK WATERSIDE HOT

User reviews for SHERATON NORFOLK WATERSIDE HOT

By John Wollner from West Bend, WI • not the place to stay

Overall Rating: 2

We arrived in norfolk at our hotel found out we had to pay 20 dollars a day for valet parking or we could walk a little over a block to a public parking structure for 11 dollars a day. we got in our room. took a nap and some guy walked right into our room. apparently they checked someone else into the same room luckly we were there or who knows what would be missing. The cleaning staff was not that good. they would also not supply any soap or shampoo unless you asked for it. One night we were there there was a continues party going on until 3:00 in the morning it was so load our floor and walls were vibrating. and the staff would do nothing to fix it. so if your looking at getting sleep and privacy its not the place to go. Our view was the top of the building and that is about it. they have no snacks or refreshments after 10:00 not even a vending machine. I would not recomend staying here at all. the staff is not very friendly.

By emanuele529 from San Diego, Ca • not quite a Sheraton, but service made up for it

Overall Rating: 8   Location [10] • Room [4] • Service [8] • Value [8]

Stayed one week in May for wife's business, so i spent much time using facilities and room as basecamp for excursions. For Norfolk, this is almost ideal location: a nearby tourist trap (the City's version of "nightlife" is Joe's crabshack and a piano bar), nearby ferry (very good), nearby free bus into town (great), nearby shopping mall for forgotten electronics etc., and nearby competitors in case you hate it.

Some of the service were well above average and made the difference. Even the restaurant staff did extra.

Fees are heavy, such as the standard wireless option ($10/day). I skipped the phone fees. Lobby is below average, but livable. Hallways are dingy, smelly, bathrooms are moldy, rooms tiny. Beds are superior though, so it can be handled.

By Place was old, dirty and tired

Overall Rating: 2

From the outside, the hotel looks nice. But, once you're in the rooms, it's disappointing. The rooms are old and are falling apart. The doors don't close all the way, presenting a security risk. They have new velvet drapes and new comforters on the bed. But, this doesn't make up for dirty floors, dirty carpeting, dirty walls and dark, dingy rooms. Hair dryer was not attached to the wall in the bath. The plate was there for the connection, but the dryer was in the clothes closet. The toilet was old and the exposed plumbing had a coat of verdigris (old) all over it. YUCK. It was creepy. The grout in the bathroom tile was also dirty and hair was on the floor. Room service was rude and smelled like he hadn't showered in a week. The room service menu did not offer much choice. Newspaper arrived too late in the morning, maybe, if you were lucky, or not at all. I was glad to get out of there, and I would not stay there again.

By Trip Tutorial User from Charlotte, NC • Not Westin/Sheraton Quality

Overall Rating: 4   Location [10] • Room [2] • Service [6] • Value [2]

This hotel is in a great location and when you frequent a specific chain of hotels you come to expect the same quality/experience at all of them. This definitely is not a normal Starwood product.

The lobby is nice - dining facility seemed ok - Room was TERRIBLE.

The rooms appear to not have been renovated in 10 years. (seriously) Some parts of the ceiling had paster hanging down with what appeared to be the start of mold setting in. The bath tub was dingy and dirty.

The carpet was dirty and little bits of trash below the writing table.

There are other places to stay in Norfolk that are cheaper and of better quality.

By Very disappointing

Overall Rating: 4   Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [4] • Value [4]

We stayed at this hotel last 4th of July. We prefer Sheraton to many other chains, but this location was sub par. The hotel is convenient to downtown Norfolk, has great views of Portsmouth’s shipyards, and is along the river walk. Also, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and sights to see nearby. However, the hotel was undergoing noisy renovations, the television and toilet were broken, and staff was less than helpful. Norfolk is a great place to visit and we’ll definitely be back, but we’re staying somewhere else.

By Trip Tutorial User from Westminster, CO • Best Sleep I've ever had at a hotel

Overall Rating: 6   Location [8] • Room [6] • Service [8] • Value [6]

I love the Sheraton beds. They claim they will give you a good night's sleep and I say they are right! The hotel itself was somewhat run down and while I had a great view of the waterfront the first night, the internet access was not working. The room I moved to had a view of the streets. At least I had the internet connection.

The hotel staff were friendly although there was a feeling of apathy among a lot of them. The conference rooms were nice, but we had a lot of trouble with the sound system - either having none or getting the speeches from other conference rooms. The lights went out for a half hour and then came on with no explanations made.

The location was great. Right up next to the water, close to a big mall and some very nice restaurants. I would stay there again - if only for that bed!
