RENAISSANCE WAILEA BEACH RES.User reviews for RENAISSANCE WAILEA BEACH RES.
By AnonymousUser0 from Kansas City, MO • Great place, great view, great beach
Overall Rating: 10 The Renaissance offers everything that you you need to feel pampered but at a reasonable rate. We were here in July 2002 and had come after staying at Waikiki - what a difference! The gardens terraces are beautiful and the pool, while small, was nearly deserted. The beach, just steps away, was absolutely perfect. Snorkeling at the reef just to the south of the beach was fantastic - lots of colorful fish, sea turtles and a very tranquil ocean that didn`t toss you around in the surf. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. If you get an ocean view, the sunsets are worth the price alone. The Wailea area has resorts that will cost you more - (the Grand) - but unless you are looking for Disney-fun parks and pools that look like family amusement centers - the Renaissance will give you everything you need in a get-a-way-from-it-all resort. Overall Rating: 10 Everything was excellent from the minute we arrived. The staff were the friendliest we have ever encountered. The only negative is the fact that this resort has been sold and is is scheduled to close this spring for remodeling. Hopefully the new owners will not change too much especially the gardens or the Beach Club. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Trip Tutorial User from New Jersey • Sunset Heaven
Overall Rating: 8 Location [10] • Room [6] • Service [10] • Value [10] It's hard to imagine a better setting than viewing a sunset from Waliea Beach in Maui. Everyone stops to admire the light show provided by the amazing sight of the sun disappearing into the ocean. It is pretty spectacular! As for this resort, if they could just update things a bit it would be spectacular too. It's in the perfect location, next to some of the most exclusive resorts on the island, yet it lacks the touch of class that the other properties exude. It's a bit deceiving when you arrive because the lobby is very impressive. It's when you make your way through the hallway on the way to your room that you notice the stained carpets that are in desparate need of replacment. The outdated bed covers and furniture are very noticable when you enter your room. The bathrooms are decent, although the tile grout was a bit dirty and the shower heads were old. The needed changes are mostly cosmetic such as redecorating rooms and replacing carpeting. If this were to take place, this resort would warrent a 5 star rating. It is a great value when you consider how expensive the neighboring properties are. Aside from the cosmetic needs, this place is very nice. The bellmen and valet attendants were extremely gracious and helpful. They always greeted you with a smile and had great recommendations for everything. If you can look past the upgrades this property needs, you are left with a very good resort that is an excellent value. Just check how expensive rooms are down the road at the Grand Wailea, the Four Seasons, and The Fairmont. You will pay 2-3 times more for the same sunset view. The beach at the Renaissance is actually nicer than most of the other properties. If you're on a budget, this is a great place to spend your vacation. Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] My mother, sister, and I were very fortunate to stay at one of the best Hotels in the Hawaiian Islands--The Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort in Wailea, Maui. I have stayed at, or visited, quite a number of hotels in Hawaii and I am happy to say The Renaissance most closely gives one that wonderful feeling of being in Hawaii from their beautifully landscaped grounds to the breezy openness of the public areas to the exquisite unobstucted views of the ocean and coastline. The employees were wonderful-kind, helpful, friendly and welcoming. The food was consistantly good--very fresh, with an amazing variety offered by their buffets. We looked carefully at other Hotels in both Wailea and other parts of Maui and found that many of the other hotels were "overdone"--think "Adventure Land" or a Hollywood set. On the other extreme, some hotels were institutionally bland--especially south of Lahaina--some look like hospitals! The simple, understated, elegance of the Renaissance sustains the flavor of Hawaii in a beautiful and lovely way. Hotel designers take note. We used the babysitting which was also better than expected. Everyone had a great time ages 3-46. Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [8] • Value [10] We really enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance Wailea. Our room was large. It had a very comfortable king bed as well as as desk (with a small fridge under it) and a small sofa and coffee table. The bathroom was huge! The tub was very deep and the double sink was very nice. We enjoyed the pleasures of the resort as well. We borrowed a movie at the concierge desk. The massage therapy was wonderfully relaxing. The pool area was never crowded and has ice water whenever we wanted it. The beach was beautiful and so were the ones within walking distance! We ate at the Palm Court restaurant on seafood buffet night. The food was delicious and there was an amazing amount for a very reasonable price.
We look forward to returning to the Renaissance! Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Most beautiful grounds!
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] The Renaissance is a wonderful resort -- clean, great service, good location. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The complex is large enough to accommodate any need. But, unlike the larger resorts, it has a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. The grounds are as beautiful as one can imagine. The walk through the garden to the pool is stunning! The open-air lobby is refreshing. The sunset view from the terrace is spectacular! Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] | write on a beautiful beach, | | this side of island gets very windy in the afternoon |
Beautiful Hotel in a great area. We had a partial ocean view room overlooking the pool and ocean. It was great ordering room service and having lunch on the balcony. The lobby was open air, very nice. The service everywhere was fantastic. the restaurant was good and the bar restaurant was even better for lunch and drinks. The pool and beach were never crowded. The beach was sandy with no rocks with a view of molokini in the distance. This is a great value considering the more expensive hotels are right next door. The only downside is that this side of the island gets very windy in the afternoon. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | |
