Overall Rating: 4 Location [10] • Room [4] • Service [2] • Value [10] Starlite is in the perfect location. This is a perfect hotel for people who are traveling with friends who will not be in there room to often. The AC wasn't working that well but worked enough. We had a mini-fridge which came in handy for drinks and left overs. Overall i would probably stay there again if i went on a trip with my girls simply because of it's location and price. There ... [more]are so many other things you can spend your money on in Miami. [less]

Overall Rating: 4 Location [10] • Room [2] • Service [2] • Value [6] The location is the only thing worthwhile. The restaurant next door, Wet Willies, can be heard at all times even at 5am as they clean up. The service at the hotel is horrible, but i agree with another review written, for a college student on spring break there are plenty of other things to spend your money on so saving some money and staying at the starlite is nice. Also, the beach right there ... [more]and plenty of nice restaurants in walking distance is very handy [less]

Overall Rating: 2 Location [6] • Room [4] • Service [2] • Value [2] We checked into the hotel in July 2005. The clerk at the check in did not acknowledge us promptly. When we were directed to our room it was of extremely poor quality. The refridgerator in the room did not work. It had faulty power cords to the lighting in the room, wires were exposed. The room appeared to be an office prior to them making it a guest room. There are a few reasons why I say it ... [more]appeared to have been a converted office. One is because there were a few buzzers on the wall of the room that you could push to unlock the door so someone could come in. Also the entry door to the room had a large glass pane in the middle with blinds instead of being solid wood. The blinds didn't even cover the entire window pane so anyone walking by could have looked underneath into our room. Also there was desk in the room with old telephones in the drawers of the desk. The television remote control did not work and had tape on the back of it holding the batteries in. The television only had 1 working channel anyway. The bed was made out of 2 by 4 wood planks screwed together and it had some kind of thin uncomfortable mattress on it identical to a wrestling mat. The pillows were also flat and uncomfortable. There were metal grids on the windows so you couldn't look out. There was noise from the restaurant/bar next door that was not blocked out by the windows or any other material. When we confronted the manager regarding the condition of the room he was of no assistance. We advised him that we stayed at this same hotel in May of 2005 and our room was nothing like this one. We had reservations but we were advised that even with reservations the rooms were distributed on a first come first serve basis and this was the only room they had left. Needless to say due to staff's attitude towards their less than adequate rooms we will not stay at this hotel again, regardless of it's proximity to the art deco district in south beach miami. They did not even try to find us adequate lodgings at a sister hotel through their booking agent. We had to call ourselves and our booking agent was very helpful and found us an excellent hotel about 8 blocks away. We had to pay more out of pocket (about $50 total in addition to our original booking price) however it was well worth it. [less]
