Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [6] I just wanted to write about my experiences at the Hotel Hershey because if there are other people in the world like me, then they take reviews seriously when it comes to deciding on travel arrangements. In a nutshell, Hotel Hershey is great, although it is on the pricey side. We paid around the $360/night mark, but there is a 10% AAA discount. This is really one of those places that you get wh... [more]at you pay for.
When you first arrive at the Hotel, bellhops take your luggage and valet parks your car. This is all a free service at this hotel, but tips are usually expected at a place like this. I always kept some $1 bills on me at all times just for this reason. Guaranteed check in was not until 4 pm, but my wife and I arrived about 4 hours early and they already had our room available. Because we were on our honeymoon (and I informed them of this a few weeks prior to our trip) they upgraded us to a junior suite! Our room had a very comfortable king sized bed, a comfortable couch, two chairs, and a coffee table. It also had a desk and chair by the front door. The rooms include a free safe to store your valuables, and two Hotel Hershey robes. The bathrooms are very nice, with marble tile work from floor to ceiling! Because the hotel is older though, the rooms are not as soundproof as some of your newer hotels that you would find say on the Vegas Strip. The hotel is very quiet at night, but during the day you can sometimes hear the maid service and kids in the hallway. But it's not bad at all.
Now a few hours after we arrived, the hotel sent us free chocolate covered strawberries on a silver tray with a handwritten note from the hotel manager congratulating us on our honeymoon! It was a very nice touch! The staff always seems to remember who you are, where you're from, and what your intentions are for the day as well. They treat everyone like royalty!
I also highly recommend the Sunday brunch. You need to make reservations, and it is a little pricey at around $34 a seat, but it is well worth it. The brunch buffet has multiple food stations, and everything is gourmet. They had an omelet station where they would cook your omelet to order. They had a seafood station where they put out jumbo shrimp, stone crab claws, and fresh mussels. And there was even a huge desert table with almost every kind of desert imaginable with most deserts featuring Hershey chocolate of course, but they also had cheesecakes and flans as well.
If there were any gripes about the hotel it is this. The hotel layout can be very confusing. It took my wife and I a good day just to figure the place out. It has been remodeled over the years, and the layout can get a little funky. There also tends to be a lot of groups staying at the hotel. When we were there, a doctor's convention, two weddings, and multiple birthday parties and reunions were taking place in various halls and rooms in the hotel. Sometimes it was annoying because places like the hotel's fountain lounge were being used for various dinners and conferences. I think they should keep the public places like that open for all hotel guests. Conventions and dinners should be kept to private rooms in my opinion. Well, this review is getting pretty lengthy, but I have so much more I can say about other experiences in the town of Hershey. Maybe I'll try to write another review later. Hope this review helps in your decision-making! [less]

Overall Rating: 4 Location [2] • Room [6] • Service [2] My mother, husband and I traveled an hour and a half to go the the Hotel Hershey for Sunday Bunch. I called the same morning and asked the front desk specifically what time brunch was being served and if there was a required dress code. The young lady told me brunch was served between Noon and 2:15pm and that there was NO DRESS CODE. When we arrived at the hotel, we proceeded to the dinning roo... [more]m. It was 11:30am so we sat for a half an hour and relaxed. When they opened the door for brunch we proceed to join the line. When we arrived to the greeting area our coats were taken and at that time we were told we could not be seated because my husband was wearing jeans. You need to understand, my husband had a wool dinner jacket on along with a turtle neck sweater. There was nothing stating that jeans were not required. Not to mention when I called that morning I was told there was NO DRESS CODE. I express my concerns to the gentlemen sitting everyone however he refused to give us a table. I then went and spoke to the manager on duty and he also would not accommodate us. He stated "he could give us a seat in the caf". As if we were not good enough for attend the brunch. I have been at many fine hotels, including 5 star, which the Hotel Hershey is NOT. If an establishment will not take care of their customers then I refuse to do business with them. I strongly recommend not doing business with this establish. They want your money however they do not care how they treat you. I will take my money else where. [less]
