I had never been to Memphis before. Since the hotel was considered "downtown" I assumed it would be in the commercial center of the city. It was quite a distance from what one would expect to be downtown. Some web sites state that airport shuttle service is free, but it is not. Guests shouldn't think this Super 8 Motel is the Heartbreak Hotel but they won't have to go far to experience the blues and the hoops. This Super 8 Motel in Memphis, Tenn., is close to Graceland, the home of King Elvis, and the famous blues clubs of Beale Street, where another king, B.B. King, got his start. What's more, the motel is close to the coliseum where the NBA's Grizzlies play. Guests also are close to historic downtown Memphis, which includes the National Civil Rights Museum in what was once the motel where Martin Luther King was assassinated. With easy access to Interstate 55, guests also are 25 miles to the Tunica casinos just across the state line into Mississippi.

Before journeying out to sample the sights, guests can dig into the motel's complimentary continental breakfasts.
