Overall Rating: 10 There is skiing, and then there is Deer Valley. The Stein Erickson Lodge is one of the most beautiful alpine-inspired buidlings you will ever see. Truly exquisite. This is luxury all the way. If you've spent your ski vacations thus far doing everything from camping on the floor to renting a condo, you must treat yourself to this place at least once. I felt like I was in Avioraz, France, or Zer... [more]matt, Switzerland. The rooms are very spacious and mine had an enormous stone fireplace and an even bigger bathtub. The house restaurant is world-class. The staff clearly takes pride in how special this place is, and they do everything they can to ensure that reputation endures. The views from every side of the lodge are sweeping. I was there in the summer, on business, but even then I could see what a magical experience it would be during ski season. Even if you don't ski, this is a treat for your eyes. [less]

Overall Rating: 10 I had the pleasure of staying at the Stein Eriksen Lodge the first weekend in December 2003 en route to a conference in Salt Lake city. I was accompanied by my husband and nine month old son and must say that it is our favorite hotel in the country. Having stayed at many Ritz Carltons and luxury hotels we tend to be rather discriminating and have to say we did not have a single complaint about o... [more]ur three night stay.
Upon arrival we were welcomed and escorted to our suite by several very accomodating staff members. They quickly pointed out the fireplaces, kitchen amenities and told us how to arrange for more wood and anything else we needed. We mentioned that we would like to take a horse drawn sleigh ride and they immediately contacted the concierge to take care of our request.
The luxury suite was beautiful and looked right out onto the face of the mountain. The master bath was perfect with muted lighting, Frette linens, and an enormous tub. There was a fireplace in the bedroom and living room as well as a second bath in the living room. Our room also had a hot tub on the deck. It was extremely convenient to have a full kitchen as we were traveling with a small child. Our closet was large enough to use as a small bedroom for him.
The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed dinner at Glitterind, five star spa treatments and genuine courtesy from everyone we encountered.
I really cannot say enough about this resort; we have already planned two more trips in the next two years. [less]
