User reviews for MAUI SEASIDE HOTEL
By AnonymousUser0 from Reno, NV • Maui Seaside No Ka Oi!
Overall Rating: 8 My husband and I booked our honeymoon at the Maui Seaside for 7 night, 8 days. The first night in, we just crashed, but the next morning, we went to breakfast in Auntie Vi`s restaurant on the premises. We had our maps out, trying to decide what to do first, and the waitress - Nalani, a local native - told us where the road construction was and what would be a great drive. We went with her recom... [more]mendations to see Hana, and had a wonderful day. The next morning, she suggested the Maui Dive Shop to book a snorkeling trip to Molokini Crater. We drove over and booked our trip for a thursday, and then took in the quaint little town of Lahaina. The next day, she told us that road construction on the road to Haleakala was finished, so we could plan on that, if we chose. We chose, and we went up in the afternoon to watch the sunset. It was gorgeous! By the end of our stay, we had become friends with our waitress, as well as Vi, the restaurant owner. She comped our last breakfast there, saying that we were a joy to have stay there! And we thought that the joy was all ours! The hotel staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the pool was cool and clean, the views of Iao valley and Kahalui bay were gorgeous, and it was a convenient starting point to all of our day trips! Best of all, we didn`t have to leave the hotel at the crack of dawn to get back to the airport on our last day there, since the airport is only a mile away. I and my family returned to the Seaside a year later when my Mother had been given only a year to live. The whole family loved the ambiance of the place! We had one kitchenette and two rooms for the six of us, and the whole trip was wonderful! Again, the hotel staff were great, even when we had accidentally left a bag behind in the lobby the day we left. They secured it at the front desk as soon as we called and held it while I ran back to get it. Nalani made us leis for our last day, and Vi again comped our last breakfast! Although my Mother lived longer than the doctors expected, we were planning another trip back this year, until she unexpectedly passed away. John and I are planning another trip back for our 10th anniversary. We can`t wait! [less]

Overall Rating: 2 Nice looking pool, closed at 6pm, unusable. Nice looking breakfast restaurant, closed at 8am, unusable. Nice looking room, carpet damp/smelly from leaks. We left early, what`s the point? Ok, it`s cheap, but absolutely no charm & no warmth from employees. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Never with this hotel chain
Overall Rating: 2 Location [6] • Room [2] • Service [2] • Value [2] Chose this place as it was a locally owned and operated chain. We were seeking a native experience but the hotel is a dump. We were given a non-somking room (after a strong request) that stinked. The tiled entrance was sticky and a few barefoot steps on the carpet resulted in dirty feet. Yikes!
Of course, the ocean view is limited to a couple of rooms or if you reach the pool. It is... [more] far away from the cool and hangout places.
The frontdesk people were nice and friendly. No frills but prompt for sure.
The Willey's retaurant at the hotel was the WORST experience in any of my travels. The hotel gives out $5 off vouchers to be used at the restaurant. The restaurant was serving about 5 people when we went for dinner. We waited (first mistake on out part)for several minutes before our presence was acknowledged. After a rude "Come" (sic) from the waitress, without any "Hi" or "Hello", we were seated and thrust the menu. When we did order the food, we were told in no uncertain terms that there would be "no customising" to our request to make the chicken spicy. "You can do it yourself iof you want. We make it just one way". Needless to say, we did not place the order but headed out to find a better place with a bad taste (pun intended).
Do not stay at this hotel or any other in this chain. I have had two bad experiences with this chain that nearly ruined my Hawaaian vacation. [less]
