One of the very best surprises I found in Philly was the Sofitel Philadelphia. This hotel is pure European elegance in the heart of the city. From the moment I walked into the lobby, it was as though I had entered a different world...a world which only became more lovely after a fast, efficient and courteous check-in procedure.

As a business traveler, I was thrilled upon entering m... [more]y room. It was large, well appointed, quiet, with all of the amenities one could ask for, and then some. The beds were comfortable, the closet was huge, and it was complete with ironing board and iron, a safe, laundry bags, lots of hangers....anything one could want. And the bathroom....my goodness, I felt like I was in another world as I opened the double French doors into the spa-like bath with separate shower...it was incredible.

In the morning, before my meetings, I went down to Cafe Colette for terrific croissants and coffee from a press. There were newspapers offered....it was simply a lovely way to start the day.

Sofitel is definitely a hotel for those with discriminating tastes, or those who simply want to leave the hustle and bustle of the city, and escape to a little bit of heaven in Philadelphia. [less]

The Sofitel in Philadelphia is not flashy, but it's a classy, clean quiet place to stay. The rooms are big and the bathrooms are huge. It's not the cheapest place to stay, but it's not the most expensive. It's Sansome and 17th location is conveniently located in Center City. The staff is excellent - always friendly and they bend over backward to make you happy.

Everything was exceptional - the service, the room, the location. The ladies at the front desk were very well dressed, well spoken, and courteous. The room itself was beautiful - very spacious, clean, and orderly. The bed was dreamy with plush bedding. We just loved our overnight getaway.
