User reviews for OLDE HARBOUR INN
By Grayson Shuler from High Point, NC • Horrible stay due to staff's bad attitude & confusion
Overall Rating: 2 This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced. While the room was nice and quaint, the service and attitude of the staff made the entire stay horrific. My traveling companion had made reservations with someone named Justin from Thursday, Nov 4th - Sunday, 7th back in mid-September. Justin informed my friend that they had a special going on and that the price would only be $169 p... [more]er night for Thursday - Saturday nights. A lady named Nancy at the front desk verified the correct arrival & departure dates on Monday, Nov 1st.
Arrival on Thursday night was fine. On Friday afternoon, we came back to the room from a day of sightseeing to unexpectedly find that we had been locked out of the room. My friend went to the front desk and discovered there had been a mistake and that we were only booked for one night instead of our reserved three nights! The staff was unapologetic and stated that they would "accommodate us" and let us stay in the room for an additional two night. They stated that they were doing us "a favor". Upon getting back to the room, we discovered that the rollaway cot that had been provided the previous night had now been removed and that they had gone through my friend's personal belongings. When I asked Justin as to what happened with the rollaway cot, I was only greeted with a blank stare and the quote: "I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you. I don't know what to do". "Get a cot." was mine and my friend's suggestion. Again, the replied quote was a nod and the words: "I don't know what to tell you". My friend then replied, "There will be a cot put back into the room by midnight tonight, correct?" Justin only nodded and did not say a word. No rollaway cot had been placed in the room later that night. Justin then proceeded to call a sister hotel and had a rollaway cot brought in (only after my friend had suggested that option).
My friend called Nancy at the front desk on Saturday night and told her that we needed a wake up call at 5am on Sunday morning so that we could wake up on time to get ready, load the taxi and make it to the train station on time. Nancy assured us that the call would be placed and that she would call the taxi service. Unfortunately on Sunday morning, no wake-up call had been made and we (luckily) woke up at 5:30am and was able to get ready on time. We proceeded to check out. When the bill was checked over, it was discovered that the staff had charged us $169 for Thursday night, but $189 for Friday & Saturday nights. Not the $169 per night that had been promised to us by Justin in mid-September. Oddly, we saw on the itemized bill where $169 had been charged for the nights, but that they credited them back and then subtracted $189 for each of the nights. We believe this was a purposeful way of "getting us back" for complaining on Friday night. Catherine, who was working the front desk on Sunday morning, became very defensive when we questioned the bill. She stated that we "were lucky to get the room for $189 because it's normally over $200 during the busy season" (which really didn't matter since we were staying during the offseason anyway). She then informed us that "Justin called me last night and told me all about 'you'" She then became very irate and defensive. We had to leave, so we paid anyway and left.
In conclusion, confusion, lies, a defensive nature and overall bad attitude of the staff made for an unpleasant trip for which I have never experienced before in my life. I will never stay there again and would not recommend this place to anyone. It is disturbing that their reservation setup is that they lure you in with attractive rates and "specials" only to be charged something else after you have stayed there. [less]

Overall Rating: 4 Location [6] • Room [4] • Service [6] • Value [2] My husband and I booked a suite and were quite disappointed. The price did not reflect the quality we were expecting. The hotel is historic and pretty, but our room overlooked a noisy street with a nice "river view" (read: a rusty truck, business with a sqeaky gate, trucks trying to reverse with obnoxious beeping and a parking lot). We were up at about every hour. The kitchen had one... [more] pot and no other cooking essentials. There were hairs stuck to the back of the bathroom door that also looked as if it hadn't been wiped since the place was built. We were just disappointed with the whole experience. It's not the worst place in the world....but I'd look elsewhere. [less]

Overall Rating: 8 Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [10] • Value [8] Got a "romance package" for our first stay in Savannah and the room was lovely...1 bedroom suite w/loft. It was roomy and comfortable but the bathroom was very small. We loved our little iron balcony overlooking the Savannah River, as we like to "people-watch". The nightly bed turn-down, soft rock music playing on our radio, and the Klondike treats in the freezer( my husband... [more]39;s favorite!) were very cozy, though 1 night got missed. Breakfast was great and Jonathan, the cook, was very accommodating. Expect to pay $40-50 more than what was quoted to you....our reservation confirmation only gave us a price average/night instead of the total and they told us on check-in that the package we had chosen wasn't included in the per night price. I had read that this has happened to almost all the reviews here, so we were expecting it. I feel that needs to be addressed and a Complete total along with a confirmation number should be sent and presented upon checkin so there are no surprises. A parking pass should be included instead of having to pay $8/2 days. We will probably stay in the Historic district when we return again, just for a different prospective, but this is a lovely Inn in the main shopping district. [less]
