We recently stayed at this hotel. We actually went there for a concert and bought the Entertainment package that included the tickets for the concert, a room for the night and breakfast the next morning since we live 7 hours away.While the concert was awesome, the rooms are a different story. The outside of the hotel, and all other parts of the hotel are nice, but the rooms are run down. The ba... [more]throoms are VERY small, with the sink being right against the side of the shower. There was a small counter that worked well for putting on makeup/fixing your hair, but that is where they kept the coffee maker. The lighting in the room was terrible. The bed seemed to be clean, and the floor LOOKED clean, but it felt wet when you walked on it. The walls definitely needed to be touched up as the wallpaper was ripped and scuffed. The shower was not that great as the water pressure beat you to death, and the shower head was very low. The hotel is in a very small town, and it seems to be the main attraction there. It almost seemed like the main focus of the hotel was the entertainment, which, like I said, rocked. The hotel sits right on the banks of the Ohio river which is okay. There was information in the room that stated that they offer boat and jet ski rentals during peak season, but we did not see any and we were there in May. There is a gameroom and 2 restaurants at the hotel. There is also a bar and a lounge and several shops. There is a very nice outdoor and a large indoor pool. The staff seemed very nice, but I think that they definitley need to work on bringing the rooms up to speed with the rest of the hotel. [less]

Some friends and myself stayed this past week-end mainly because of the concert.The nashville stars were there and it was a total sell-out and the hotel was also full.
I was impressed with how efficient they handled the check-in and also the check-out. When we arrived so did a whole group of people. I expected to have a long wait but to my surprise it went very smoothly and quickly.
We had w... [more]onderful seats and the concert was awesome. It also went very smoothly, seating and leaving, etc.
Was well satisified with the room. There could be a little better lighting, did not bother us cause we were not reading or doing business, but feel it could be better for their customers that are. Also think there should be a microwave. There is a fridg., coffee pot, iron, etc. but would be nice to have a small micro. for pop-
corn or warming breakfast rolls.
We ate at one of the facilities,The Patio, food and prices were good.
The staff was very helpful when needed.

We were there to see the 2005 K-Derby, could not find any rooms in Louisville. Executive Inn, Owensboro is about good 2 hrs drives to Churchill Downs.

The hotel area is not that great, constructions going on, and not enough parking spaces for the many rooms they have but they have a valet parking if you get tired of looking.

CHECK IN/OUT:
I did not like that they put me in a ground level room on the side of the hotel because I booked my reservations on the internet and that is what they could offer for the rate I got ($72.00 a night through Expedia).

I asked the front desk staff to change it because I was not aware of any such thing, they did not give me lots of options, few rooms with no river view or any view and not what I wanted but I had to change the 1st choice and took the best they could offer, 5th floor facing the street side not the river.
My mistake is I did not call few days before arrival, please make sure you call them before arrival and get a nice room.

When I was checking out, the charges were higher than my reservations. Because of the change of rooms, the system charged me $89 instead of $72. I got their attention and they adjusted the rates and got out.

THE HOTEL:
The hotel interior seemed very clean and nice but the elevators, the hotel ceiling glass needs major cleanings or changes.
The hotel has nice Lobby, gift store, Cigar lounge, Bar and a Restaurant.
The staffs are friendly.

THE ROOM:
The room door looked old, the room was fairly large and clean with 2 beds.
The bathroom was relatively clean, the fan is very noisy and it goes on with the light switch? The shower head is non-adjustable and the water span is wide, sink is too small no place to place my stuff (toothpaste, brush, shaving, etc...). The towels were clean.

The room AC was very very noisy even with only the fan blowing, I had to shut it off in order to sleep. The bed sheets were not clean and had some stains, mattress looked and felt old, the 19" TV was small for the room size and did not work properly and had to ask for maintenance to change it and brought a 27" TV.
The lights were not easy to reach or to control, looked rusty and not clean.

THE FOOD:
We ate dinner at the Hotel Buffet twice, Friday night "Seafood" and Saturday night "Prime Rib". The Seafood was not great, everything was fried and did not taste good, the sides did not look appetizing except the red potatoes, were OK.. The salads selections were very limited as well. The Prime Rib dinner was better because of the prime rib, it was delicious and tender but the sides were not as great specially the string beans, were very well done and mush. We like our vegetables semi cooked. Serving staffs were somewhat inexperienced and confused when more guests arrived.

CONCLUSION:
Anyhow, the hotel owners have gone thus far to renovate it but come short of making it a classy place. I can't imagine what it had looked like before the renovations!!!

We traveled to many countries allover the world and have stayed in the best hotels in Europe, South America and the Middle East and may be that has to do with not being satisfied with this experience "Executive Inn".

Also, if you are driving, take Interstate 64 to Route 231, we discovered it is the easiest route IN/OUT of Owensboro.
Mapquest directions were not as easy.
