By Yen from Palo Alto, CA • Great location
Overall Rating: 8 Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [6] • Value [8] | Great location, not a chain | | none |
A hidden gem in Boston. Don't expect the amenities and service of a top flight - but then again, the price is a lot lower.
The location is great, right by Boston Commons, great restaurants, shopping (e.g. Filene's) etc. Rooms can be spotty, as can service, but I have had good luck with both.
The gym that they are affiliated with is a short but very cold walk in winter, but its a pretty good gym. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By rgo123 from Kirkland, WA. • Better than W
Overall Rating: 8 This hotel has everything going for it for the business traveler. It's like a W, just better. Bigger rooms, even more comfortable furniture, and bigger desks. All that's missing are the Apples.
Nine Zero Staff was superb, knowledgable and very helpful during my first stay at this hotel. They offer a superb location for getting to and around all of Boston. Easy access to tourist and business destinations. My only concern is that it seems like hotels such as this, and the W's seem to be trying to one up themselves with the clever and hipness of the bathroom sinks and faucets....Sort of "Look how clever we are, they won't figure out how this works!" and they are right, just keep it simple, for stupid me. I'd stay hear again, and recommend it. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Megan from San Jose, CA • Nice rooms, not as impressive amenities
Overall Rating: 8 The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The beds are extremely comfortable, with nice down comforters, but the other amenities are not as impressive. The gym is very small, with old, out of date machines. The room service food is not very appetizing, especially not for the price. It’s conveniently located though, so if you don’t care about extra services, this is a great hotel. Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [8] Stayed here after a concert downtown with my sweetheart... The room was beautifully appointed and had every amenity one could possibly ask for. Even though it was late, their FANTASTIC room service sent up a beautiful dessert not on the menu (they put something lovely together for us): a bowl of gorgeous strawberries and handmade truffles and a bottle of champagne.
In the morning, our breakfast came and it was hot (very important), the coffee was strong, and the food very very good, and the best part of all? The checkout was late enough for us to sleep in and enjoy the morning, unlike other hotels. I'd definitely stay there again. Overall Rating: 10 I stayed here for 2 nights during a recent business trip to Boston. The hotel was conveniently located near downtown. The room was spectacular (large, clean, modern), with high speed internet connection readily available (for a daily fee). The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. If you want to stay at a nice place but don't want to pay $300 a night, this is the place to go. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Nice Hotel, Poor Service
Overall Rating: 4 Location [8] • Room [8] • Service [6] • Value [2] I stayed at the hotel for several weeks on business and found it to be uneven at best.
The hotel itself is nice. The design is modern and chic, but inviting. The rooms have some nice amenities, including comfortable beds and a fast internet connection.
The young-ish staff, on the other hand, seemed inexperienced and unschooled in hospitality. Wake-up calls and breakfast frequently arrived late, if at all. A colleague's laundry was lost for several days. Maids began knocking on doors at 8 a.m.
By far the worst experience of my stay, however, was being bumped from my room. I awoke one morning to find my bill placed under the door. When I called to inquire why, I was told that my reservation had ended and that the hotel was fully booked for the evening. Incredulous, I asked the hotel's reservations desk to look into this and fix what must have been a simple mistake on their part. I was greeted, alternately, with indifference, denials and blame. Worst of all, the staff made no attempt to rectify their error in any way, even by offering to find me a room at another hotel.
Over time, the hotel may iron out its service problems, but for now I would not recommend it. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By missy_sweet_cheeks from London/NYC - raised in Boston • Classy Hotel in the Heart of Bsoton
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] Our family had the pleasure of staying in this new "boutique" style Boston hotel. The 9-0 is so conveniently located to most areas in Boston. We had a two room suite which was bigger than most Manhattan apartments. Beautiful, hip decor throughout the clean rooms. The staff was so very helpful and the room service quickly delivered excellent food. The lobby is small but has a nice sitting area and the hotel has a new restaurant for great dining. Our window overlooked the old Tremont St. cemetary for those interested in historic rubbings. Having grown up in Boston, the Hotel's location brought back many memories of time spent in the Boston Common park nearby with my parents and brother. Fanueil hall is a stone's throw away and Newbury St. is a fine walk through the Commons or via the Beacon Hill boundary. Parking is next to the hotel in an open lot and you are charged per day. The Nine - O is an excellent hotel for business and family. I'm sure we'll return. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Trip Tutorial User from Maine • Our favorite hotel!
