Exellent location, reasonable rates, good staff, good rooms

none

Im a jaded New Yorker and needed to get away. Id been in Mission Beach 10 years ago and loved it. After I blindly booked the Bahia and then read some of the negative reviews, I wasnt sure what to expect.

For the record, if youre looking to spend all your time in a room in San Diego, youre in the wrong city. So for me, the rooms were more than adequate. Shower stall heads were shorter than average, but othewise fine. Clean, large, lots of toiletries, attentive staff, good Tvs, room service, etc. Someone must have read the negative previous postings because they couldnt give me enough soap and shampoo, etc. No hassles with the taxis either. There is a constant flow of them and you can always call your own service or let the staff know you need one at a certain time, etc.

I was glad I booked the place and will return. Its just so simple to get to it made it easy for my girlfriend from Mexico to drive there and find me. Its centrally located and frankly, I enjoyed the stay there.

Good Hotel, a little aged but the rooms are very clean and the pool is great. Weight room is a joke, don't even bother trying to lift. Location is pretty good, walking distance to a lot of fun stuff. Stayed on the fourth floor with a "garden view" that was actually fantastic, it overlooked the bay and it was great to have the balcony. didn't eat at the restaurant but the little complimentary boat trip to the catamaran was fun, just don't forget a sweatshirt if you go at night.

By laughingbubbleevents from kansas city, MO • We enjoyed the Bahia!

My mother came to visit in San Diego last summer and blindly booked the Bahia resort, after trying to find a hotel on a very busy convention weekend.
She got a room, near the tennis courts, a short distance from the pool. We had such a great time there! The rooms were clean, the staff was attentive, and the grounds were lovely to take a walk in after dark. There is a man made river that runs through the property with lots of green foliage. There is a seal in the front part of the hotel nestled in a lagoon, which all the little kids were so excited to see. On one side of the property is the Bay, where you can go right up onto the water, and on the other side is Sea World a short distance away, and every night at 9pm they have a fireworks show which you can see from your hotel room.
The Ocean is a short 5 or 10 minute walk down the street, with lots of people watching, cute stores, and even an amusement park with rollercoasters, although we did not feel that adventerous.
One night they had a Hawaiian Luau, with authentic dancers and a buffet dinner. At the front desk they even gave us free tickets for a boat cruise! We were too busy to get on the cruise with all the wonderful restaurants and all of Pacific Beach not too far away.
The property could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but who cares when you are so close to the ocean? That's the point of going to San Diego anyway, right?
We had a great time, and would definatly go back again.

By A good family place

Overall Rating: 6

Good location, clean

none

A good place for kids, with access to a beach and extensive grounds. It is also walking distance to a number of things. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property is a little rundown, but clean. Not an elegant place, but a good base for a family vacation.

The rooms were really big and spacios, e=with very high ceilings. The view from the rooms are really beautiful. Room cam with a full kitchen including a fridge. I felt to comforble not cramped at all like many hotels. I felt like there were 4 seperate area's to the room, bath/vanity, bed, kitchen, sofa/tv. Hotel grounds are very nice. Very unique pool.

Pool, excellent Latino service staff.

Old musty rooms, noisy motor court, bad beach

In spite of a slick website, very disappointing and pricey run down, noisy motor court. Nice pool. Latino service staff great, waiter/parking attendants surly. Three blocks away from wonderful Mission Beach: the hotel beaches NOT good for swimming.

Rooms musty but clean. Suite cramped: get two singles instead. DO NOT STAY in the noisy, east side of the hotel where most rooms face busy Gleason Road (used by public AND the Bahia as a service road, overnight parking bans not enforced, so cluttered with motorhomes nightly as well). Stay on the side facing Santa Barbara Cove, far from tower rooms. Rooms are either on a busy road, a beach or have small, climbable wrought iron balconies: all SIGNIFICANT safety hazards for small children.

Beds uncomfortable with ill fitting mattress pads and unfitted sheets that pulled out all night. Beds are under windows facing very noisy motor court, but you need the windows open for ventilation. All doors slam, so door and car/voice noise around the clock. A lot of drunken spring break groups.

We liked the pool, the big jaccuzi and the gym,the 2 sea lions at the entrance and the free ferry ride. We got to the hotel at 12pm but rooms are not ready yet, check ins are at 3pm,but the receptionist was too good that he made the housekeepers do a quick wash of a bay view room for us. The room was big for a couple,it has a kitchen which is good for travelers who bring food with them. But when we tried their room service and ordered breakfast, they didn't get the orders right.they sent us bacons with the eggs and my boyfriend and I are both vegetarians.

We stayed at the Bahia April 16-23, 2005. We loved the location of this hotel, because it was so close to Mission Beach. A mere two block walk to the beach, restaurants and entertainment. The hotel was very nice, our room clean and airy. A little noise from the room above but not too bad. We had a studio and it was very convenient. The restaurant at the hotel was overpriced for what you got. We ate dinner there one night and for an average steak and veggie , with appetizer and bottle of so so wine, our bill came to 90.00 with tip. We had other dinners off the resort for less and was much much more appetizing. Other than the restaurant , we enjoyed the whole resort. Would go back there.

By joleneshriner from Austin TX • Awesome wedding destination

Overall Rating: 10   Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10]

My husband and I planned our wedding there, and couldn't have asked for a better time. The wedding was in the Garden and the reception was on the fifth floor of their hotel. We had a great time. The Bahia took care of all 400 guest at our wedding along with the 250 guest from out of town. The Bahia Bell took our guest for a tour of Mission Bay at Midnight with a live band to accompany the tour. We were alson blessed by the fire works from Sea World which happened to start right at the end of our cake cutting.
As my husband and I approach our year aniversary we are excited about returning to San Diego to stay at the Bahia to celebrate our one year anniversay.
