By • Oasis for Road-weary Traveler. Bravo!
Overall Rating: 10 I am a 5 night night per week road warrior. This particular week, for instance, finds me in 5 different cities.
I would rate this hotel a top-5 experience. It's hard to imagine the serenity you experience, particularly given it is literally attached to an airport terminal. The lobby is incomparably beautiful, aesthetically consistent (improbably, the Chiang Mai Regent comes to mind)... [more]. The soft lighting and wide open atrium dull sound to a dream-like quality. No airport noise here. I checked in and then felt compelled to just enjoy it, despite my dinnerless 8 p.m arrival.
The rooms were similarly perfect, with "Starbucks" earth tones and plush beds that delivered my most comfortable night's sleep in months. The desk is oversized, the ergonomic chair comfortable. 3 desktop outlet sockets anticipate charging a computer and cell phone without unplugging the lamp. And, high speed internet (wireless and wired).
I arrived for dinner at 10 p.m. and was seated with a smile. The service was great, the food perfect. I asked for the tuna extra-rare, and it came that way. A gutsy move - one I was almost concerned about (is there fresh tuna near Detroit?) until I took a bite. The quality rivaled what I'd experienced at Rialto in the Charles Hotel Boston, outrageous as that sounds. How on Earth did management find people of this quality to work at the Detroit airport?
On the note of "thinking of everything." After the lobby, I decided to check out the gym. I was looking forward to being disappointed, in that way that we jaded traveler's love to hate hotels that hate us by giving us gyms even the occasional exerciser would shun. Well, they thought of that too. It filled my time happily for an hour, hence that 10 p.m. dinner slot.
I simply couldn't imagine a better experience at a hotel. I find myself looking forward to my next trip to Detroit! [less]

Overall Rating: 10 I found the Detroit Metro Westin an exceptional
hotel to visit, stay for a night, meet "early" airline scheduled departures, and generally to
enjoy the "ambiance" of a classy hotel at a reasonable and affordable price.
If my travels take me again to Detroit--I would enjoy another future stay @ this very fine Hotel. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By gabbygps from Grosse Pointe Shores, MI. • The Serene Westin
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [8] • Value [4] The Westin is a few steps from NWA. They have a great resturant "Dema" which has an asian flavor, a great wine list and the fluffiest beds in town. It's a little pricey for an airport hotel, but with all of the construction going on to get ready for Super Bowl XL, if you have an early morning flight, it's worth the peace of mind.
