I took the description of this hotel with a grain of salt, not expecting too much for the price I paid, but was so pleasantly surprised to find that the Carbrillo Garden Inn was not misrepresented. Small details made this hotel comfortable and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. I stood up on the bed to inspect the border along the ceiling which was actually hand painted. When I asked the gentleman at the front desk to recommend a good pizza take-out he offered to call and order pizza for me because he received a discount from a local restaurant that he wanted to pass on. Even though we were right on a busy street corner, the room seemed almost soundproof. Checking out was a breeze and the bottled water I found in the room which I expected to be charged $5 for was complimentary. Even though we weren't in the nicest part of town, I felt completely comfortable because of how well the grounds were kept. Flower boxes with beautiful cacti and succulents dotted the stairways and railings. The bathroom was small but super clean. The whole room looked as though we were the first guests to stay there. If I ever visit San Diego again, I will absolutely make reservations at the Cabrillo Garden Inn.

One of the cutest places we have ever stayed. A real bijou! We were very pleased with the size of the Hotel, the wonderfully decorated, clean rooms and the fantastic breakfast. We have stayed in a lot of place all over the world, but the Best Western Cabrillo Garden Inn was one of the best yet! A big plus is the multi-language staff, one of them even speaks Swiss-German! We would go back there any time!

We are responding to this review of this guest just now, since we have not been aware of this remark earlier.

First of all, we are shocked by this review, as well as deeply
offended, since the guest is straight out not telling the truth about anything. We have tried to accommodate this person the best way possible, but nothing seemd good enough.

Best Western Headquarters has investigated and closed this case, since clearly this person was just looking for some kind of compensation or free stay from the company and the only thing degrading and offensive, is this fairy tale story made up by this person that eventually has lead to reputation damage for our Hotel.

We stayed at Cabrillo Gardens for the San Francisco Orchestra's concert tour in January. The rooms were meticulously clean, parking was convenient and cheap ($10 per night)and the service was helpful and friendly. Frankly we were concerned about the "horrible" review made by one reviewer, but nothing we experienced gives any credence to that very negative review.

It's not the Sheraton a block away, but it's $100 cheaper and a very nice place, conveniently located...we recommend it.

We loved this hotel. My husband had to go to San Diego on business and I tagged along. If you're looking for luxury or room service look elsewhere. If you're looking for a super clean, friendly, homey atmosphere this is the hotel for you. Everything about our room looked brand new. The bathroom was white and literally sparkled! The staff was friendly and sooo helpful. The rooftop was cozy and very tropical with all the plants. Thank you! We had a great time.

This is a great hotel. The staff is super, very accomodating and friendly. The location is ideal if you are looking for the Gaslamp district dining experience and a reasonably short walk to the zoo or Balboa Park. It is very clean & comfortable. Close to the expressway.
Stayed here for a conference at the convention center and I was very satisfied. They have a hot & cold breakfast every morning, complimentary. Best part is the layout. The garden atmosphere makes it like going home after a long day at a conference.
The hotel has about 30 rooms so make your reservation early. We stayed here for 8 nights and enjoyed it very much. You won't be disappointed.

Nice room, and a good view. Customer service was great. Good location, as well as a well-lit parking lot and close to freeway. Highly reccomended.
