The Henry B. Plant Museum

The Henry B. Plant Museum interprets the turn-of-the-century Tampa Bay Hotel and the way of living of America's Gilded Age. Critical to the success of this mission is the restoration and preservation of this National Historic Landmark, an wealthy 1891 railroad resort, and the artifacts important to its history and the life and work of Henry Bradley Plant. Through educational exhibits and events, the museum transports visitors of all ages and backgrounds to the late Victorian period, the beginnings of Florida's tourist industry, and the early years of the city of Tampa. This quintessential Victorian palace features unique Moorish renascence architecture, opulent European furniture and art treasures of the original railroad resort. The past will rejoice you at the Henry B. Plant Museum.

Location

The Henry B. Plant Museum is situated at 401 W. Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33606, approximately one mile off I-275 on the campus of The University of Tampa. From I-275, take exit 44 (old 25) (Ashley Street, Downtown) and proceed seven traffic lights to Kennedy Boulevard; turn right on Kennedy Boulevard. cross the bridge and we are located one-quarter mile down on the right. As you enter The University of Tampa campus, you will see Plant Hall, the large building with the silver minarets on top. We are located at the end of that building closest to Kennedy Boulevard. There is a sign on the front lawn and flags at our entrance.

Free on-street parking is available in front of the museum or in the parking garage two blocks away at the corner of North Boulevard and North "B" Street. The museum is fully accessible.

Entrance Fee

A donation of $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12 is requested. Henry B. Plant Museum members are admitted at no charge.

Operating Hours

The Henry B. Plant Museum and the Museum Store are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 12 Noon to 4 p.m. Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. In addition, the museum will be closed November 21-23, 2005.
