Field MuseumDescriptionField Museum was founded in 1893 to hold material gathered for the World's Columbian Exposition. The current classical-style building of the museum was opened in 1921. The museum's 9 acres of floor space present permanent and temporary exhibitions, showcasing the Earth and its people, from the secrets of Egyptian mummies, to the peoples of Africa and the Pacific Northwest, or the living creatures in the soil. Dinosaurs exhibit traces the evolution of life on Earth from one-cell organisms to the great reptiles. The highlight of this exhibit is 65-million-year-old "Sue," the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever found.
