The house was first opened to travelers as the Staples Inn in the 1830’s when there were only 3 other buildings in Old Orchard Beach. The courtesy of the innkeepers made their mansion popular; guest who once came returned annually. The major attraction for most visitors was wide seven-mile stretch of sandy beach. Since those days a lot of activities appeared in Old Orchard Beach.
The Old Orchard Beach Inn seems authentic with completely redone hardwood floors, antique furnishings and more. What are not authentic are modern amenities. Every room today has a private bath, central air with the modern HVAC system, color cable television and more.
