Detroit Zoo DescriptionThe Detroit Zoo feature all of the expected animals - elephants, giraffes, bears, lions, and much more. The pride of the Zoo is the Arctic Ring of Life, the World's Largest Polar Bear Exhibit. Visitors of the exhibit experience the tundra, open sea and pack ice of the Arctic environment, and the animals that are adapted to life there. The Arctic Ring of Life exhibit has the Polar Passage, a spectacular 70-foot-long clear tunnel that takes visitors underneath diving and swimming polar bears and seals.
Other attractions of the Detroit Zoo include the world's largest penguinarium, a walk-through aviary with tropical birds and plants, a wildlife interpretive gallery with a butterfly house.

Getting ThereThe Detroit Zoo is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Ten Mile Road (I-696) in Royal Oak. From the east and west, take I-696 to Exit 16 for Woodward Avenue, Main Street, and the Detroit Zoo. From I-75 north or south, take Exit 61 to I-696 west, Follow I-696 west to Exit 16.
