Gateway ArchDescriptionThe Gateway Arch is a centerpiece of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park. It was designed by architect Eero Saarinen and built in 1965. The 630 foot stainless steel arch is known as the "Gateway to the West” and commemorates the western pioneers. A tram takes visitors up through one of the arch's legs to an observation room with a stunning view of the city and the Mississippi.
