Chickasaw National Recreation AreaDescriptionChickasaw National Recreation Area (originally Platt National Park) is a popular tourist destination, located just south of the town of Sulphur. Early American Indian visitors described this land as "Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters", and these words can still be used today. This area provides unique recreational resources. Activities include swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, camping, and hiking.
Entrance FeeThere is no fee to enter the park, but fees are charged for camping, boat launching and reserving the picnic pavilions.
Operating Hours & Seasons The park is open year round. The Travertine Information and Nature Center is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Getting ThereChickasaw National Recreation Area is located on State Highway 177, just south of the town of Sulphur, Oklahoma. It is about 90 miles south of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and 120 miles north of Dallas, Texas.
