 Sharks, turtles, stingrays, dolphins, and many other sea creatures can be observed at the South Carolina Aquarium. The pride of the Aquarium is the two-story Great Ocean Tank Exhibition, which holds over 300,000 gallons of water and contains hundreds of animals and plants.

 Drayton Hall is one of the oldest surviving plantations, built in 1738 and owned by the Drayton family until 1974. The elegant plantation house, framed by majestic live oaks, is the finest example of unspoiled Georgian-Palladian architecture.

 On this man-made island in Charleston Harbor America's most tragic conflict ignited: Confederate forces fired the first shot of the Civil War on April 12, 1861. Fort Sumter remains a powerful symbol to both the South and the North, a memorial to all who fought to hold it.

 Middleton Place, located just 14 miles northwest of Charleston, is a carefully preserved 18th-century plantation. It has survived revolution, Civil War, and earthquake. Middleton Place features blooming alleys, terraced lawns, and around ornamental lakes shaped like butterfly wings.

 Actually, Family Kingdom includes two parks in one - an amusement park and a water park, both of them are located right on the beach. The amusement park contains more than 30 fun-filled rides. The water park, although modest in size, features an ample array of slides, chutes and floats.

 Riverbanks Zoo is home for more than 2,000 animals housed in natural habitat. The Riverbanks Botanical Garden is devoted to gardens, woodlands, plant collections and historic ruins. Riverbanks has been named one of America's top 10 zoos.
