National Railroad Museum

Description

The Museum's Eisenhower collection has been collecting audiences both young and old. The museum is comprised of British Railways Board No. 60008 Dwight D. Eisenhower and General Eisenhower's World War II command train coaches. This huge historic collection brings in more visitors year after year than just about any other exhibit at the Museum.

Although both the Eisenhower locomotive and command coaches are quite impressive in their own right, it is believed that the exhibit does neither historic pieces, nor the man behind them, justice. Because of this the National Railroad Museum, in conjunction with Museum friend and project director announces the Eisenhower Project.

The aim of the Eisenhower Project is the construction of an exhibit in the Museum's Lenfestey Center that better interprets for Museum guests the significance of both the Dwight D. Eisenhower locomotive and the command coaches. To garner funds, the Museum is relying completely on contributions from people, who share the Museum's passion in telling the story behind the Eisenhower collection.
