The Symphony Hotel

The Symphony Hotel was built in 1871 by Peter Ehrgott, a German lithographer. He commissioned architect James W. McLaughlin, probably the most important architect, who had been born in Cincinnati during the second half of the 19th century. In 1874 Peter Ehrgott died and his oldest son, Louis Ehrgott, purchased the property from heirs. Also, for some fifty years he and his wife used the property as a boarding house for students at the College of Music.
